As an Optima Health customer in the Charlottesville region, I want you to be among the first to hear some great news. Martha Jefferson Hospital and Sentara Healthcare, parent company of Optima Health, have announced their intent to merge.
Martha Jefferson Hospital recognized the strategic value of affiliating with another system, and examined the top five candidates. After extensive review, they chose Sentara. Sentara Healthcare, based in Norfolk, is the #1 most integrated health network this year as reported in Modern Healthcare magazine and Optima Health is part of that highly-integrated system.
All of us at Optima Health know what an outstanding organization Martha Jefferson Hospital is - its CEO, Jim Haden, has served on the Optima Health Board for the past three years. We look forward to working with Jim and the team at Martha Jefferson even more closely as we welcome them to Sentara Healthcare.
As we all work to understand the implications of health reform, integrated systems like Sentara Healthcare and Optima Health are on the leading edge of efforts to control healthcare costs by leveraging technology and devising new models of care and reimbursement that reward efficiency, safety and value.
Sentara has a mission To improve health every day and a vision To be the healthcare choice of the communities we serve. As President of Optima Health, I amĀ pleased to tell you about our healthcare delivery system known among its peers as a leader in quality and patient safety, with a strong commitment to customer satisfaction.
As you know, there is much to be done between now and the conclusion of the merger. However, I want you to know this process has begun and, as an Optima Health broker, I hope you will soon recognize the value that Sentara Healthcare can bring to your customers.
Sincerely,
Michael M. Dudley, President
